BASICS Safety Protocols 2024

BASICS, LLC wants to ensure that families and staff are safe. We continue to adapt policies as the CDC, OSSE, and DC change their recommendations and mandates. This memo will lay out our general level policies for the new stage.

Everyone commits to:

  • Provide accurate information on the health status of yourself or someone who will be at the sessions regarding COVID-19 status and symptoms

  • Wash hands frequently  after sneezing, coughing, blowing nose, touching face, or consuming food or drink.

  • Will wear a mask if they want

  • Follow the Mayor's orders regarding masks, testing, and quarantines.

Families agree that:

  • There must be running water and soap at all times on the premises where sessions occur.

  • Ensure tissues are available for students if they have allergies

  • Cancel sessions if student is ill

  • Will wear a mask if they want

BASICS ABA Therapy commits to:

  • Provide masks to all employees.

  • Provide one mask to clients if needed.

  • Provide hand sanitizer to employees.

  • Continue to educate and train our employees and clients on COVID-19 and hygiene best practices.

  • Continue our ongoing use of CDC, OSSE, and DC recommendations and guidelines.

  • BASICS cannot share staff or client vaccine status

Health Screenings

Cancel sessions if: the child, therapist or anyone who will be present during the session is currently experiencing any COVID symptoms not related to a known diagnosis the session must be canceled

One symptom or more symptoms:

  • Fever

  • Wet cough producing mucus

  • Loss of taste or smell

  • Diarrhea

  • Vomiting

Pre-existing Conditions

If you have a pre-existing condition that would cause you to fail the daily health screening such as a condition that causes coughing, then you are encouraged to provide a doctor's note for the pre-existing condition. The doctor’s note does not need to list the condition, it just needs to state that symptom. This will remain confidential. You can check “no” on the health form next to that symptom and you can pass your health screening. Without a doctor’s note, it will be considered a failed health screening and the process above will be followed.

Failed Health Screenings Return Criteria

  • 24  hrs have passed without symptoms (without use of fever reducing medication)

OR

  • A medical evaluation and a doctor's note stating symptoms are the result of a preexisting condition or non contagious illness and are in good health

Staff or Client Positive Test Return Criteria if Positive for COVID:

  • At least 5 days after positive test

AND

  • A negative rapid test

AND

  • At least 24 hours after any fever has resolved without the use of fever-reducing medication (i.e., Motrin, Tylenol) and any respiratory symptoms have improved
