Parent Tip of the Month: Compliance
July 18, 2011
Be sure to give your child a “To Do List” rather than a “To Don’t List”. Always try to state the behavior you want to see rather than what you want them to stop. This can be hard but it will get easier with time!
Instead of “Don’t hit your sister” you can say “Say ‘Move please'” or “Ask her for the toy”
Instead of “Stop standing on the table!” you can say “Please sit in your chair”
Practice this as many times as possible and let me know how it goes!
